BIANCA VELOSO Y9
Being in this year’s school production has been amazing; every time we rehearse on the stage I get a rush of excitement at what goes on around me! There’s much to think about when doing this play. There are a lot of rehearsals during lunch and after school, and it can be tough to manage everything, but you can always find time to do your work during rehearsals, and I know it is worth it in the end. It is important to always stay positive.
The time and effort put into a school production like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is phenomenal. I see parents and staff coming in during their lunch hours and after school, putting set pieces and costumes together and all the other backstage things the audience doesn’t see. All these efforts take a lot of time, and a big commitment on everyone’s part. When it all comes together it is magical; like when the sound and tech crew get everyone sorted – that is wonderful work.
Overall, seeing this journey start from nothing, to where we are today still amazes me. I love the fact that everyone is important in this play. Whether you have a principal role, are in the chorus, are a dancer, or part of the backstage crew; this grand experience wouldn’t happen without all of us. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang will be unforgettable.
